Hi there everyone. My name is Ann I have in the past few days discovered Lifering. I have been in touch with Craig. I live in Ireland have contacted the group in Dublin no response just wondering if anyone out there is from Ireland. I have been sober just for 3 days and nights now I really feel very posative at the moment. Craving in the evenings can be horrible, however, I make myself busy. I really have to start reading again or take out the old knitting. Anyway thanks everyone for this page it's a great idea. Ann

Hmmm... well I hate to be all cynical but Pelican Bay ain't some dinky little county lockup. Those old boys in PB aren't in there for *jaywalking*. Those are some hard, hard men in that place. And the guys in solitary are heavy duty, hardcore people.

I believe that anyone *can* change, but there are people in this world who have gone far enough down a road that, in my experience, they don't usually change. Not *really* change... just my personal experience.

The guys in these gangs are connected man, and they can reach out of those bars and walls into the real world. I'd be careful, is all i'm saying. Maybe at least use a P.O. box for the correspondence, instead of giving out your home address...

just my two cents, and i sincerely wish arturo well.

Ann,
I'll be in touch by email. You sound like many of us who felt we were slowly shifting from "social drinking" to something more dangerous.

I feel I drink too much. in fact every day I would have to have a drink. While I don't get drunk as I would have perhaps 2 glasses of white wine or 4 vodkas. I feel that I really need help as I don't think its right that I have to have a drink everyday. I am very energetic and a lot of my behaviour is kind of addictive

Interesting, I think deep down all these kinds of addictions are indeed biochemical, and sex addicts can have just as hard a time adapting to "normal" behavior as drug addicts have adapting to the absence of their drug of choice. I no longer wonder why, say, Bill Clinton could put the presidency of the U.S. on the line for a, well, you know, or why a local assembly woman could put her position on the line to shoplift some merchandise. It's all the same thing, really, and maybe just a matter of degree.
